Toy Shop Takeover in the Construction Area
This term, our Foundation Stage children have been busy transforming the construction area into their very own toy shop! Using blocks and loose parts, they designed aisles, counters and display shelves, showing fantastic teamwork and imagination.
To make their shop realistic, the children explored toy catalogues, carefully cutting out pictures of toys and placing them in the aisles. They also created their own signs, labels and opening hours posters, thinking about what information a customer would need.
The children also used recyclable materials to create their own toys, designing unique products to sell in their shop.
We then extended the learning by integrating ICT. The children programmed a Sphero robot to travel around the toy shop, using language linked to direction, movement and angles.
It has been a brilliant combination of creativity, communication, problem-solving and early programming skills. Well done, everyone! 🛍🤖✨
