Killowen Primary School, Rostrevor

Primary 4/5

Dear parents and pupils,

Welcome to P4/5!

Yes, there will be new challenges to meet and new skills to develop, but we will face them together!

There will be increased expectations of pupils to begin to organise themselves and it is now their responsibility to come to school prepared, but this can be supported by little reminders from you, their parents.

Where pupils may well need less help with written homework, they will need you to help them with learning homework: times tables, spellings, vocabulary. There are resources to support you with this, saved on the private parents area.

Homework, if your child is opting in, should take no more than 45 minutes, including learning times tables, reading and spellings. We believe in the merit of revising skills and knowledge at home, but we also believe that children benefit from having time to explore their own interests. If your child is finding homework difficult, please, come and speak to me and we can chart a path together.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Mrs McKeown
